Terms of Use

Last updated: July 27, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the ShootLight app (“the App”), developed by Spearhead Media (“we,” “us,” “our”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) (apple.com/legal/…/stdeula), which is incorporated by reference. Where these Terms and Apple's standard EULA conflict, these Terms control to the extent permitted.

2. The App is a planning tool: important safety notice

ShootLight provides estimates and predictions of light, weather, sun and moon position, drive times, and shooting conditions for informational and planning purposes only. These outputs are not guarantees.

  • Do not rely on the App for safety-critical decisions. Weather, wind, and visibility readings are third-party forecasts and can be wrong. Always consult official weather services and use your own judgment.
  • Wind, visibility & conditions. Wind, gust, visibility, and haze readings are third-party estimates only and can be wrong. You are solely responsible for assessing whether conditions are safe for your activity and equipment.
  • Driving & routing. Drive times, traffic, and routes are estimates provided via Apple Maps and may be inaccurate. Obey all traffic laws, and never interact with the App while driving.
  • Being outdoors. You are responsible for your own safety, sun/UV exposure, terrain, tides, weather hazards, private property, and local rules at any location.

You assume all risk arising from your use of the App and any decisions you make based on it.

3. Data sources

Weather, astronomy, map, and radar data come from third parties (Apple Weather, Open-Meteo, MET Norway, RainViewer, NASA GIBS, and Apple Maps). We do not control and are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or content of third-party data.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, resell, sublicense, or misuse the App, and not to use it in violation of any law or the rights of others.

5. Intellectual property

The App and its design, scoring methods, text, and original content (excluding third-party data and marks) are owned by Spearhead Media and protected by applicable law. Third-party names and marks (including “Apple Weather”) belong to their respective owners.

6. Purchases & refunds

The App is sold through the App Store. All purchases, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms; direct any refund requests to Apple.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that forecasts or conditions will be accurate, or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spearhead Media will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or equipment (including drones or camera gear), arising from or related to your use of the App. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

9. Apple-specific terms

You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Spearhead Media only, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the App. Apple is not responsible for any product claims, warranties, or legal claims relating to the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

10. Termination

These Terms apply until terminated. Your rights end automatically if you breach them; you may end them at any time by deleting the App. Sections 2, 5, 7, 8, and 9 survive termination.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you consent to the courts located there, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law grants you additional rights.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. The current version is always posted at this URL.
